The Miners fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 15-5 loss to Ogden on Friday. Park City lost despite out-hitting the Tigers nine to eight.
Ogden scored on an stolen base by G Gooden and a single by J Cheney in the first inning.
The Miners fired up the offense in the first inning, when junior Amanda Riely doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
The Tigers scored four runs in the third inning. M Manske, Gooden, K Lowry, and D Ripley each had RBIs in the big inning.
L Tompson led things off on the hill for Ogden. She went five innings, allowing five runs on nine hits and striking out five.
Riely got the start for Miners. She lasted five innings, allowing eight hits and 15 runs while striking out seven.
Park City tallied nine hits. Vanessa Heredia, Riely, and Annie Sheinberg all collected multiple hits with 2 each for Miners.
Ogden had eight hits in the game. Gooden, P Boners, and Cheney each racked up multiple hits for Ogden. The Tigers stole 17 bases during the game as four players stole more than one. Gooden led the way with seven. Ogden was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Gooden made the most plays with five.
