Region 10 Cross Country Championship Meet at Cottonwood Softball Complex – Holladay, UT

The Miners took home first place in the girls race with 38 points barely beating out the 42 points scored by Stansbury. Park City boys finished in 2nd place behind Stansbury.

Top finishers for the girls included senior Sydney Oraskovich, junior Daisy Townshend, and junior Liza Greene. The girls crossed the line in 5th, 6th, and7th places respectively.

Kyle Weldon earned a top 10 finish for the boys team with a run of 16:14.2 (8th place).

Both Park City teams qualified for the state meet that will be held on Wednesday, October 19th at Sugar House Park.

UHSAA 3A Girls Soccer 1st Round Playoffs at North 40 Playing Field – Park City, UT

The Miners struck early and often on Wednesday afternoon against the Wildcats scoring 6 goals in the first half to put the game out of reach.

Lauren Hoglin found the back of the net in the second minute on a cross from junior Casey Crawford. Crawford then scored her own goal on an assist by senior Jessica DiCaprio in the 11th minute and her second goal on a pass from senior Dani Johnson in minute 12. Crawford completed the hat trick on a pass from senior Evie Edwards in minute 28. Edwards then scored a goal on a pass from Crawford in minute 30 before Mackenna Doilney completed the scoring in the first half on an unassisted goal in the 38th minute.

In the second half, Edwards scored in the 49th minute on a pass from Keira Morrell and senior Bailey Hoglin finished the scoring for the Miners on a corner kick by DiCaprio.

Park City will host a quarterfinal matchup with Juan Diego Catholic at the North 40 Playing Fields on Saturday, October 15th at 1:00pm.

Region 10 Girls Volleyball at Park City High School – Park City, UT

The Volley Miners remained undefeated in region play by sweeping the Tooele Buffaloes 3-0 at The Shaft on Tuesday night.

Park City is now 18-9 overall and 6-0 in the region. The Miners will host second place Union on Thursday, October 13th before traveling to Stansbury on Tuesday, October18th to complete the Region 10 schedule.

Coed Varsity Debate · Debate Team Takes 2nd at Beehive Bonanza


This first tournament of our debate year was HUGE with 47 schools and over 1,000 contestants from 4 states. Our 33 students rocked their preliminaries rounds, many breaking into elimination or final rounds in their events, we took 2nd PLACE OVERALL!  Since most entries were 5A schools, this is phenomenal!
Each debater and each event lead who helped prepare with practice rounds is awesome.

Novice Congress – Andrew Bryner broke into the final Congress round & took 6th place
Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate – both our entries, Claire Peters and Izzy Sandston, broke into elim. rounds.  Izzy captured 3rd place and won 3rd in speaker pts.
Open Impromptu – Jordan Blake broke and took 6th place
Open Dramatic Interp – Adam Hickey broke and took 1st Place!!
Open Extemp – both Liz Cantlebary and Vincent Jedlicka broke and were semi-finalists
Open Congress – Both Alex Whitty and Adam Hickey broke into their final Congress round and took 10th and 4th places respectively
Open Policy: Our three policy teams were so close to breaking in this tough competition – an amazing feat because in two of the partnerships, we are training new policy members.  Devon Gregory/Gavin Schenk took 13th; Robbie Allison/Danny Rosenbloom took 12th; Serena Haas/Cole Farquarson took 11th and Serena won 8th in speaker points
Open Lincoln-Douglas debate – Abi Kretschmar, Boyana Martinova, and Teia Swan all broke into elim. rounds, with Abi and Teia as octifinalists.  Boyana went on to quarterfinals and took 6th; Abi won 6th in speaker points.
Open Public Forum debate –  Two of our PF teams just did not quit! Nina Williams/Reede Nasser broke into elims. and made it to quarterfinals, taking 6th. Kyle Haas/Reese Adams, debating together for the FIRST time, broke into elims. and lost a tough semifinal round to take 3rd Place!

The Miners won their 2nd consecutive 3A Girls Tennis State Championship (3rd in 4 years) on Saturday with an impressive 26 out of 30 possible points.

Region 10 Girls Soccer at Grantsville High School – Grantsville, UT

The Miners defeated the Cowboys 7-1 on Thursday to claim a share of the Region 10 title with Stansbury.

Goals for the Miners were scored by Lauren Hoglin (2), Keira Morrell (2), Evie Edwards, Cali Keizer, and Lucy Medina.

Park City finished the regular season with a 7-1 region record and 10-6 overall.

The Miners hold the state seeding tie-breaker with Stansbury and will take the #1 seed for Region 10 into the UHSAA 3A Girls Soccer state playoffs.

Park City will host the #4 seed from Region 12 on Wednesday, October 12th at the North 40 Playing Fields.

UHSAA 3A Boys Golf State Tournament at Soldier Hollow Golf Course, Silver – Midway, UT

The Miners Boys Golf team won their 9th consecutive state championship on Thursday with a 42 stroke margin over the field. Park City set an 18-stroke lead after day one and never looked back, besting their day one total by 7 strokes on day two.

Sophomore Zane Schemmer scored a 140 which forced a 3-way playoff with Noah Schone or Pine View and Michael Walters from Juan Diego.

Schemmer finished tied for 2nd with Schone when he barely missed a birdie put on the playoff hole that caught the lip of the cup and appeared to be going in but popped out.

In addition to Schemmer placing 2nd, the top scorers for the Miners were freshman Eli Kimche took 4th, sophomore Dean Tsandes placed 6th, senior Cole Lee 8th, and senior Josh Lansky and sophomore Jack Wright tied for 11th.

Region 10 Girls Soccer at Stansbury High School – Erda, UT

The Miners dropped their first region match of the year 2-1 at Stansbury on Tuesday. Park City’s lone goal was scored by Lauren Hoglin.

The loss to the Stallions puts the Miners even with Stansbury at the top of the region standings with a 6-1 record with one game to play. However, Park City holds the tie-breaker with Stansbury having outscored the Stallions 4-3 in their two meetings.

Park City will finish the region schedule against the Cowboys of Grantsville on Thursday, October 6th. With a win on Thursday at Granstville, the Miners will secure the Region 10 title and a #1 region seed going into the UHSAA 3A Girls Soccer state playoffs.
