Coed Varsity Track · Girls Track & Field Wins Region, Boys Take 4th

The Miners Girls Track & Field team won the Region 11 Championship on Thursday at Stansbury High School.

The girls finished with 136.5 points, 24 points better than runner-up Stansbury. Highlights for the Miners included Chloe Shewell (FR) and Isabella Criscione (SO) finishing 2nd and 3rd in the 800m, the sprint medley taking 3rd, Jaynie Glasmann (SO) winning the javelin and finishing 3rd in the discus, Elise Heddens (SO) finishing 3rd in the long jump, senior Liza Greene taking 3rd in the 1600m, the 4x100m and 4x400m teams finishing 2nd, Katie Brotherson (JR) finishing 2nd in the 100m hurdles and 3rd in the 300m hurdles, Mia Hunt (FR) taking 3rd in the 100m, Grace Dalton (SO) finishing 3rd in the 400m and 200m.

The boys team finished in 4th place with 67 points. Highlights included Reese McGrath (SO) finishing 3rd in the 3200m, 4x100m team finishing 3rd, senior Victor Casarrubias finishing 3rd in the 100m, and Paul Baynes (SO) taking 2nd in the 400m.

Next up: UHSAA 4A State Track & Field Meet at Brigham Young University on Thursday and Friday May 17-18.
