Park City High School’s annual MR. MINER PAGEANT, will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2017 at 7:00 pm in the Eccles Center. Tickets are $8.00 if purchased in advance (from a dance company member or Mr. Miner candidate), and $10.00 at the door. Ten PCHS senior men will compete for the title of “Mr. Miner 2018.” This hilarious mock-pageant is the primary fund-raiser for the PCHS dance program.
The men compete in several categories: character modeling, talent competition, GQ modeling, and response to an on-stage blind interview question. The Mr. Miner Pageant is known for being a funny, light-hearted, and well-attended event that has the audience roaring with laughter.
This year’s theme is THE MEN OF MY DREAMS; each contestant has chosen a character that relates to the theme to portray in the character modeling. Their choices include a professional surfer, a professional rapper, and even Bernie Sanders (because, the candidate said, “in my dreams, he is president). The gentlemen’s talent competition will include singing, playing music, dancing, and some hilarious surprises! In the GQ modeling and interview section, the MC’s ask the men questions, which are previously undisclosed to the contestants.
PCHS faculty and administrators, as well as members of the arts community, volunteer their time to serve as the MCs, judges, tabulators, and stage managers for the event. The show also includes performances by the Dance Company and Dance Company 2, and is run almost entirely by the PCHS stage crew class members.
The judges will evaluate the men’s performance, and their scores determine the awards: Mr. Congeniality, the 1 st Runner Up, and MR. MINER. The pageant also includes the popular AUDIENCE CHOICE award! Audience members will have the opportunity to buy ballots, for $1 a piece, and cast them for their favorite contestant.
All proceeds from the event directly benefit the dance company and dance program at PCHS.
