Park City at Wasatch
On Thursday, January 18th, the Miners travelled to Heber to take on the Wasatch Wasps. It has been several years since the Wasatch back teams have raced each other, and the meet didn’t disappoint. The friendly rivalry with Wasatch produced some fantastic swims for the Miners and helped set the team up for the upcoming Region XI Championships.
To start the meet, the Park City Girls posted the fastest time in 4A in the 200 Medley Relay. The Miners continued to swim lights out winning the next 5 individual events. The girls from Park City won every individual event and 1 relay. The Miners boys won 5 of 8 individual events and 2 relay events.
The relays proved to be some of the most exciting events of the meet as both teams were looking to improve their seed times going into Region and State. Both schools were screaming and cheering their teams on and very fast times were swum by both schools.
Individual winners were Helena Djunic, Jack Troxel, Elise Beller, Cole Peterson, Katie Hale, Trevor Malpede, Sabine Caplin and Jessi Beyer. Dennis Djunic, Trevor Malpede, Jack Troxel and Cole Peterson led the PC boys to big wins in the 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay. The girls 400 Free Relay, made up of Katie Hale, Elise Beller, Emma Strong-Conklin and Helena Djunic, won their event, posting the fastest time in the event in 4A this year.
Several Park City swimmers raced to personal best times and finished the regular season out with an amazing
victory at Wasatch.
