Park City defeated Morgan 12-0 on Saturday as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout in the first round game of the state playoffs.
The Miners grabbed an early lead when they scored on a bases-loaded walk by junior Payton Gross, a single by junior Colton Thompson, an error, a single by sophomore Ben Agnew, and a groundout by junior Joey Lukrich.
One bright spot for Morgan was a single by Chase Trussell in the second inning.
Junior Sam Strader earned the win for Park City. He went three innings, allowing zero runs, one hit, striking out four, and walking zero. Two relievers helped the Miners close out the victory. Junior Gabe Lundbeck threw one inning. Kendall West took the loss for Morgan. He pitched four innings, allowing 12 runs, and nine hits.
The Miners had nine hits in the game. Agnew and senior Ryan Brady each collected multiple hits for Park City and Agnew had with three runs batted in. He went 3-for-3 on the day.
Trussell led Morgan with one hit in two at bats.
Park City will face the winner of Desert Hills and Carbon in the next game.
